Veronica Beard is sold at our store on Madison Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Intermix, and an additional 150 + stores globally. As a Top 10 Finalist for CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, there are a lot of future opportunities at Veronica Beard.
We have an opening for an Associate Technical Designer position. It is a freelance to perm position. We are open to candidates with sweater, cut and sew knit, denim specific as well as woven, tailored background.
Assist Senior Technical Designer in managing fit approval process in accordance with SMS and bulk approval deadlines.
Build relationships/partnerships with cross functional team members, such as Design, Production, and Merchandising.
Coordinate fit schedule with design team and senior designers.
Partner with Production counterparts on tracking and arrival of all fit samples + PP samples.
Manage work load to department initiatives.
Measure fit garments from the factories and ensure evaluation sheets are prepared and reviewed with design/development team prior to fitting.
Record fit notes and notify departments such as Production regarding changes to the styles made during fittings.
Instruct and communicate to agents/factories the appropriate construction, fit and block information to ensure successful manufacturing while adhering to Design’s concepts.
Conduct live fittings with/without designers to determine what fit and construction changes are necessary to achieve Design’s vision.
Maintain technical packages with all updates, graded specs, fit photo, BOM.
Maintain seasonal library of fit notes and patterns, both paper and digital.
Utilize, as appropriate, cost saving methods in style development.
Assign appropriate grading to all points of measure, keeping the proportion accurate in relation to our predetermined sizing.
Make construction and fit comments to factories. Responsible for all updates with reference to fit and construction. Identify efficiencies within the brand or category to support CTM initiative, specifically block and construction development.
Maintain daily communication with sourcing offices and factories.

College degree in technical design / pattern making
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
2-3 year full-time technical design experience
Illustrator and Photoshop
Aptitude to be trained to fit, interpret fit and construction within a Technical Design environment
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of textiles, construction, patternmaking / grading.
