Dynamic Duo: How Two Live

Showing up to a party in the same outfit as someone else? Wearing matching pants to work? Many of us might run home to change; but for Stef and Jess Dadon, the stylish sisters behind the popular blog How Two Live, coordinating outfits is their modus operandi. We caught up with the duo just before NYFW to talk matching outfits, overpacking, and what they’re most excited to wear fall.
Tell us about how you started How Two Live.
We started it as a daily diary to each other when Stef was moving to Paris. We had always lived together and shared a wardrobe, so we loved the idea that this platform would keep us together even though we were apart.
Tell us what it’s like for the two of you to get dressed every day. You dress similarly but different, how do you coordinate your looks?
We like to purchase things in two colors, that way we can each have one and very often we’ll rock up to work in accidentally matching outfits.
Your looks are fun and playful, what’s the key to experimenting with fashion?
We have a very ‘anything goes’ approach to dressing. Fashion is supposed to be fun and a way for us all to express our individuality, so we really encourage people to dress for themselves and not care about what anyone else thinks.
Something you’ve taught each other about style:
It really comes back to not caring what people think. It’s inevitable to experience some negativity, but if you’ve got someone in your corner cheering you on then it’s way easier to just laugh it off!
Who would play the two of you in a movie?
We’ve loved the Olsen Twins since their Passport to Paris days, so we would just die if they played us in a movie.
If you weren’t working on How Two Live together, what would you be doing?
This industry runs through our veins so if we’re being totally honest, probably something else in fashion, although we’re both super passionate about animal welfare so maybe something in that space!
What’s your survival tip for Fashion Week?
Style all your outfits before the week begins and take photos on your phone. Once Fashion Week gets going everything is so hectic that the last thing you want to worry about is what you’re wearing.
You travel a lot, what’s your approach to packing – overpack or well-planned?
We would probably say we’re well-planned-over-packers. It usually goes something like this: we pack what we think we need, then we get nervous and decide to pack an extra two suitcases, then we wear 60% of what we brought.
What trends are you most excited about for Fall?
We’re especially excited that red is finally having her moment. We’ve been waiting for the perfect time to introduce it in the color palette for our shoe label
TWOOBS and we’re launching red in our October drop.
