Slash/Series: Laura Brown

September 20, 2017

The Veronica Beard Woman is all of these things #andthensome. We’re celebrating the confident, versatile, humorous and passionate women that inspire us by highlighting the sides of their personalities that make them unique.

If there is one person that is breaking the fashion industry stereotypes, it’s InStyle editor-in-chief Laura Brown. With a wicked sense of humor and an effortless approach to style, this Aussie has stolen our hearts. We admire her drive, her passion and her ability to insert laughter in every situation – oh, and her love of wine.

Editor, wine drinker and animal lover. She's all of these things #andthensome.

Being a woman is…Exhausting. Which is why wine exists.

What makes you feel confident? When people trust my judgement and show up for me. Also a really good jumpsuit.

The words you live by? "Underthink it."

When do you feel the happiest? When I'm surrounded by air.

What advice would you give your 20-year-old self? “Please find a way to store sleep for 20+ years."

What do you love the most about your job as editor-in-chief? Having an idea, involving incredible people and seeing it materialize in words and images. There is nothing more gratifying.

Biggest myth about the fashion industry? That we can afford all our clothes.

Having a sense of humor is…like oxygen.

How do you unplug at the end of the day? See above wine. Also Stephen Colbert and boyfriend (not the same thing).

Ladies whose style I love: Nicole Kidman, Caroline de Maigret, Elissa Santisi, Clare Vivier.

Your spirit animal? The Australian quokka or the Tanzanian wart hog. I’m torn.

Red, White or Rosé? Are you saying I can’t have all three?!
