Movers & Shakers: Eliza Blank

April 13, 2018

We love a green space (take a step inside any of our stores and you'll see what we mean) and we can't get enough of The Sill, the NYC-based plant delivery service that aims to help you get a green thumb. We stopped by their Upper West Side shop to visit founder & CEO Eliza Blank to talk greenery and style because as we all know, plants make people happy.

Name & Occupation:

Eliza Blank, Founder & CEO of The Sill

What inspired you to start The Sill?

As soon as I landed in NYC, I missed the greenery of my hometown in New England. Searching for plants for my home left me frustrated and confused - I knew there had to be a better way! Our focus is on education and customer service. We want to ensure our customers - most being new to Plant Parenthood - have our support every step of the way.

What is The Sill’s motto?

Plants make people happy. It’s why we do what we do.

Best advice you’ve ever received:

Show up every day.

What are you the most passionate about?

The Sill, of course.

First thing you do in the morning?

Eat breakfast!

Your style in five words:

Jeans and a t-shirt, usually.

One thing you never leave the house without:

Phone, keys, wallet.

What makes you feel confident?

Preparation — whether for a big meeting, or just getting ready for the day.

Three plants in your home right now:

Pilea peperomioides, Peperomia, Variegated Rubber Plant

The secret to a green thumb is…

Learning from experience! It’s a game of trial and error.

Guilty Pleasure:

The snooze button.

Uptown or Downtown?

Rubber Tree or Snake Plant?

Snake Plant

Red Lip or Smoky Eye?

Red lip for sure… I never mastered that smoky eye.

Veronica Beard is…

Me, on a good day.
