Mood Board: Gemma Gené

April 26, 2017

We’re so excited to feature artwork from Gemma Gené, another Voltz Clarke Gallery artist, in our new SoHo store. The Barcelona native’s art focuses on wrapped objects (think pineapples and handbags!) and foil balloons for pieces that are a perfect mix of whimsical and architectural. Below, she shares some of her current inspirations and her must-have Veronica Beard styles.

Be sure to stop by 78 Greene Street to see her work in person!
I think what moves me the most is sculpture, especially sculpture made from stone. Some of my favorite sculptors are Isamu Noguchi, Jaume Plemsa, Anish Kapoor, and Richard Serra.

I love animals, and birds have the most amazing colors.

As an architect I am always inspired by space and some of my favorite architects are Steven Holl, Saana, and RCR.

Many of my artworks are inspired by specific songs. I especially love Sia: her songs, her videos and her performances.

I love photography. My favorite is probably Sarah Moon.

Foil Balloons

I always found the products created only “to be pretty” to be very interesting.
